Evangelistic Story

Throwing Your Heart Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs 4:23, TEV

Keith loved the circus. He dreamed of becoming a flying trapeze artist. The problem was, he would panic whenever it came time to fly from one swinging bar to the other. Again and again he missed his cue or crashed to the net below. Finally a veteran trapeze artist gave him the secret to succeeding: "Throw your heart over the bar and your body will follow."

Business people and rocket scientists have discovered this advice works for them, too. By falling in love with (or throwing your heart over) their job, they've found success.

The botanist Luther Burbank fell in love with plants. Thomas Edison fell in love with inventing. Henry Ford fell in love with automobiles. The Wright brothers fell in love with airplanes. Einstein fell in love with math. Mother Teresa fell in love with the dying. Work isn't boring when you love what you're doing.

Do you have a dream? Is it worthy of your heart? your time? your energy? Is it God's plan for your life? Ask Him, and He will direct you to do that which you are best suited to do. But even then, when you know God is leading you, you must "throw your heart over" the bar to make it happen.
